In 2020, due to the pandemic, we found ourselves unable to produce shows and had an auditorium that had not been updated since the mid-80s. An upgrade had been on our radar for a while, and we decided to make the most of the COVID closures and renovate!
In December 2021, we re-opened our doors and unveiled our newly redesigned auditorium featuring new, wider seats with extra legroom (and cupholders!), fresh air-intake HVAC, more efficient lighting, and a brand new sound system designed by TONY-Award winning Sound Designer, Rob Kaplowitz.
In April 2021, the name of the auditorium was unveiled: the Herbert H. & Olga B. Thorp Theatre, named after CFRT Founding Artistic Director Bo Thorp and her husband, Herb.
CFRT’s five-show mainstage season and robust education and outreach programs serve over 62,000 audience members a year from all ages and varying socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds including over 22,000 students from around the region.
CFRT is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.
