CFRT is committed to making the arts accessible and entertaining for the entire community, and the 18th Annual Classic Theater Series Production is just another way to fulfill this commitment. CFRT cast, crew, and staff will host two student matinee showings of Othello at Fayetteville State University’s Seabrook Auditorium. Over 2000 11th graders in the Cumberland County School System will attend for free, a $10 value for each student.

Before attending the performance, students will review a study guide, provided by CFRT, with their teachers in class. The study guide is specific to the play and introduces the story and its historical, cultural, and literary significance. This year, CFRT will also offer outreach into schools through the Artists in the Classrooms program.

This year’s production is one of William Shakespeare’s greatest tragedies, Othello, the Moor of Venice. The accessible themes of this timeless masterpiece – racism, love, jealousy, betrayal – make it an ideal play to introduce students to the power of live theatre and the language of Shakespeare.

Please support this important program. $10 pays for one student ticket. $100 pays for ten!
