Opportunities to Give

We know that many of you are looking for ways to support worthy organizations, and in particular the Cape Fear Regional Theatre.  Here is a list of ways you may make a donation to the Theatre.

Remember that any donation you make is tax deductible to the extent allowed by the IRS.

  • Cash Donations:  Careful planning of your annual gifts may provide significant tax benefits.  Unrestricted gifts are encouraged, but if you would like to designate your gift, we are pleased to comply with your wishes.
  • Season Ticket Holder and Theatre Patron:  In addition to gifts at any time of the year, we also offer the opportunity of an optional donation when you become a Season Ticket Holder, or if you would like to support the Theatre at the Patron level, a portion of your ticket is an automatic donation.
  • Theatre Seats:  If you would like to honor or memorialize someone (or yourself), then you can purchase a seat in the auditorium for a $500.00 donation.  A brass plaque will be attached to the seat for a lasting memorial/honorarium.
  • Glass Blocks:  Perhaps you would like to honor the birth of a child or grandchild, or just the joy of being a part of the Theatre.  If so, you can purchase a glass block for $325.00.  It will be etched (space providing) with whatever you would like it to say.
  • CFRT Endowment:  CFRT has a permanent endowment fund administered by the Cumberland Community Foundation.  Your gifts are invested and the earnings are used for the on-going programs and improvements of the Theatre for years to come.  If you are interested in this avenue of giving please call Mary Holmes at the Cumberland Community Foundation (CCF), (910) 483-4449 or email her at mary@cumberlandcf.org.
  • Estate Planning: As much as we may not want to think about it, each of us needs a will.  When you plan for the distribution of your assets, keep the Theatre in mind.  You can make a difference for what you believe in, and we hope CFRT is one of your passions.  Your bequest will have a positive influence for generations to come.  For more information please go to the Leave-a-Legacy website at www.leavealegacy.org and click on “Locate Your Program.”  Or, you may call our Cumberland County representative, Scott Anderson, at (910) 630-7494.

Other Opportunities:

  • Leonard G. McLeod Scholarship Fund:  This Fund was established in memory of Leonard McLeod and offers a scholarship to a deserving theatre arts student who is entering his/her first year of college or university.  This Fund is administered by The Cumberland Community Foundation (CCF).  Gifts may be made through CFRT or directly to CCF at P.O. Box 2345, Fayetteville NC  28302.
  • Securities:  Gifts of appreciated securities or stock allow you to give a gift and enjoy tax advantages as well.  If you have owned the stock for more than a year, you may deduct the average selling price of the stock on the day of transfer as a charitable contribution, and may eliminate capital gains taxes.  Talk to your investment counselor.
  • Real Estate:  Gifts of appreciated real estate are also appropriate gifts as part of your overall estate planning.
  • Costumes, Office Equipment/Furniture, Kitchen Items:  We can always use physical items to keep us running smoothly and efficiently.  The kitchen items allow us to keep offering our wonderful champagne openings and other special events.
